Knicks Travel to Miami to Face Heat for Second Time by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

The New York Knicks (18-12) head to South Beach to face LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and the Miami Heat (23-9) tonight at 7:30pm.  This will be the second meeting between the teams, as the Heat defeated the Knicks 113-91 on December 17, 2010, in a game that was knotted 57-57 at the half.  Both teams are coming off of impressive Christmas Day wins, as the Knicks defeated the Chicago Bulls, 103-95, (http://razzandjazzsports.wordpress.com/2010/12/27/knicks-lasso-bulls-on-christmas-103-95-by-derrel-jazz-johnson/) and the Heat defeated the defending two-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Los Angeles Lakers, 96-80.  LeBron James is coming off a week in which he won the NBA’s Player of the Week Award for the Eastern Conference, averaging 27.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 2.33 steals in three games.

The Knicks seemed confident when I spoke to them on Christmas about playing the Heat.  “This is going to be our second time playing them and we know what to expect” said Shawne Williams.  When Danilo Gallinari was asked what it would take to beat the Heat, he replied “Playing 48 minutes.  Every possession is important.”

The Knicks shot 39.3% against the Heat on Friday, December 17, 2010.  The Heat rank first in the NBA in points allowed (91.2), opponent’s field goal percentage (.424) and opponent’s three-point field goal percentage (.311).

  1. Al M says:

The Knicks are on the right course. 2 big wins recently against playoff teams. But Miami has 2 much Heat for them. Chris Bosh has turned into a silky smooth scorer. The Knicks need to make “the trade” to be able to compete with the Heat.

  2. I think they are on the right course too. We shall see tomorrow, the Knicks may be more motivated for this game than the Heat. I agree, ultimately, they need Carmelo, but whether by trade, or free agent acquisition? We shall see.
