Fire the ENTIRE coaching staff, and give the players a shot of courage. Let them watch the Knicks/Miami series from the 90s. (ok, I know it’s too late in the season to make any coaching changes, it’s just wishful thinking)…
FIRE DANTONI AND TRADE MELO FOR DARON WILLIAMS
What did Herb Williams do, right or wrong? LOL.
Cornell, they can’t do that with 10 games remaining in the season, and we don’t know if Williams is healthy.
Find a mean streak and start beating people up. The knicks are too soft in the middle. They need to kick some ass. I would also start looking for a new coach. D’Antoni can’t get this team over the top.
teach La La’s husband how to play defense… Brittany Griner would do a better job and we would enjoy her dunks
I like it Matt. Funny, Stephen A. Smith has made similar statements. They block shots, but other than that, very soft indeed. D’Antoni is definitely feeling the heat!
Shelleyes he doesn’t show any effort on defense. At all.
To tell the truth, i still think the Knicks need 1 more solid piece and a couple of lock down defensive players as role players as well as a couple of big men. I think they are at least a year away but at the end of the day D’Antoni will never win a championship for us. Cut bait now and build with a new coach. Yet, i fear they will give him 1 more year but i think it will only put us a year behind in winning that championship.
D’Antoni won’t play lock down defenders lol.
The First thing that the Knick’s need to do is choose a Philosophy.
Is this going to be an Offense first team like the Pheonix sun’s,Sacramento King’s looking for fast break points, or is it going to be a Defense first team.
Coaches such as Pat Riely,Jerry Sloan,Larry Brown have created sucessful teams through focusing on Physical Tough Defense with Players like Karl Malone,Charles Oakley and Ben Wallace…this is a clear path to winning Championships and being a contender every year over 10 years.
If the Knick’s want to win a Championship they need to focus on Defense.
Currently the Knick’s have no answer at Center for Dwight Howard,Jokiem Noha or other big men like Kevin Garnett.
In order to win a Championship, the Knick’s also need more than the big three – Anthony,Billups and Stoudamire.
championship teams need role players like Steve Kerr was for the Bull’s or Robert Horry was for the Laker’s or James Posey was for The Miami Heat and Boston Celtic’s in thier Championship runs this decade.
In short, winning takes time, but first you need to have a plan…that plan has to start with Defense and smart play from hard working players who are not “Starz”
I agree with Thomas.
The knicks are killing me right now. Look at the success that the knicks of the 90′s had. It was because of their lock down defense and the role players that they had. We need players like charles oakly and anthony mason. We nee some european/white players/real consistent sharp shooters on the wings to kick the ball out to when our superstars command the double team. We need a true big man in the middle like Marc Gasol or Andrew Bogut. We need a defensive minded coach and sorry I have to say it but D’antoni has to go. Offence gets the Glory (Sports Center TOP 10 – i.e Blake Griffin, Lebron James, { NO RINGS!!!}) but Defens wins the game (Celtics, Pistons, Lakers, Bulls, Spurs- Championship City). I propose the following OUT- Jeffries (to skinny) Douglas, 2 Williams and balkman (Both-Not consistent enough and never heard of you) Rautins and Mason- Go warm someone else’s bench.
In- Marc Gasol-he needs to hit the weight room/ Brendon Haywood/Kendrick Perkins
Carlos Delfino/Dinelo Gallanari/Kirk Heinrich- We need a pure shooter/sniper
Blake Griffin- It’s nice to dream- with the lock down defense, our fast break points will sky rocket and someone has to catch the lobs. We got some work to do in the off season.
@ Thomas, your factual info is great…. makes one think…I like. Also, I wonder why D’An keeps changing up defense plays? Is he trying to find a fit for Anthony? I thought as a coach you are supposed to work your defense and the players adjust to it?
If a new player comes in, you work on new defenses at practice or against weak teams but at game time, you stick to what you already know (or maybe the Knicks don’t know). It is also noticeable that Melo’s old team has been winning, have they changed their defense since he left, or continued with the same plan? This is important in understanding how Melo operates and what he actually understands.
