While I understand everyone’s frustration with the lack of defense, expecting the team to learn it right before playoffs is ridiculous. At this point, they can finish out the season and focus on learning defense for next season. Maybe then they will have a chance to be serious competition for a team like Boston. We’ve got to play on both sides of the ball and it will take more than the rest of this season to devise a defensive scheme and implement it successfully. Hopefully, we can make it happen for next year.
I do agree that the team will be better next season, even if the team were to remain exactly the same, with the benefit of training camp and preseason, but I expected better than this. Defense, for the most part, is about effort, trust, and the Knicks can’t put together 48 minutes of good defense
I’m really at a loss for words with the Knicks play as of late. Amare looks tired and uninspired, Carmelo looks like he is doing his best to advocate for a coaching change, and Billups looks like the gas light just came on his dashboard and is running on fumes. Can someone please put out an APB on the pick & roll please and if we are going to have an old point guard, can I have Steve Nash?
I see it like this, although you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, old tricks work with new dogs! …. there is no reason why in all the years of coaching and winning, the Knicks can’t come up with a winning plan. Melo is just one person and although I rag on him a lot for coming to NY just for his wife’s benefit, we have to realize that he is a very good player and the rest of the team need to step up to the plate, including the coaching staff. At the end of the day, Melo is gonna get paid (at least until his contract is up or he is traded) so if he can’t ‘catch’ onto the different defense plays and the way the Knicks play, his ass need to be benched!
Amazingly, his old team is doing better without him…hmmm…so it makes you wonder. But, I have seen teams bounce back after a timeout, a period and after halftime and it is unbelieveable that the Knicks can’t bounce back after a day or two off, a city change, or a washed uniform! Maybe they need more air in their balls (pun intended!)
KeiJuan, Carmelo is at a loss for words too, at least he was Friday. I agree, Amar’e looks tired, and t me Bllups looks hurt. LMAO at old point guard
Tachelle, Carmelo needs to step up too. Melo got paid when he came to the Knicks, so they have him for four more years, just like Stat. Hard to bench a star, especially when your job may be on the line.

Knicks fans are getting frustrated with this team. I am one such fan. Losing to teams like Boston, Orlando, Miami, or Chicago is one thing. Losing to Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Charlotte is something entirely different. This team has basically imploded since making this trade. 7-12 is unacceptable, especially in light of the fact that this team has two bonafide superstars in Carmelo and STAT. There are 9 games left in the season and this team is limping down the stretch instead of sprinting towards the finish line. I’ll address last night’s loss specifically. First, can anyone tell me how Carmelo Anthony takes 25 shots and STAT only takes 13? It’s obvious watching his body language lately that Amar’e is not a happy man. He’s not getting the touches he was getting before the trade and his numbers reflect that. He’s more of a jumpshooter than a post up player or slasher so he needs to get touches early to get into a rhythm. He can’t do that because Carmelo is basically taking the bulk of the shots. When Amar’e struggles offensively the rest of his game suffers. Before the all star break STAT was 2nd in the league in scoring average, I would suggest that we get him the ball a bit more often. Next, we are not playing with any passion. We came out flat against Charlotte and we were down by 16 in a hurry. We’re not playing with a sense of purpose or urgency and we’re letting our playoff chances slip away with each loss. It takes more than talent to win a title, folks. The Knicks have a ton of talent but no desire and not enough heart. They’re playing like a team with no shot at the playoffs instead of a team in 7th position! This team needs an attitude adjustment or else they’ll choke away their shot at the playoffs. period.
