I don’t like the pick, but I like the thought though. Shumpert is known as a defensive player, but the thing is, he just isn’t that great a player overall. What the Knicks needed was Chris Singleton. Singleton would have given them a 6’8″ wing that had the size to guard LeBron. Let’s be real. Carmelo isn’t going to be a great defensive player, so why not get a great defensive player with his size to guard LeBron and free up Melo?
