The New York Yankees, at 69-44, have the third-best record in Major League Baseball. However, after losing two out of three to the Boston Red Sox over the weekend, many are wondering if the Yankees are built to win a 28th championship. Are they? Voice your opinion on the Razz and Jazz Sports Blog Daily Debate. Yankees ace CC Sabathia is 0-4 with a 7.20 earned run average. Also, the Yankees are 2-10 versus the Red Sox on the season. In a word…no.
In a word why?…Pitching.
I would agree JW
Yes, because in this era where offenses aren’t nearly as formidable, nearly anyone with at least one great starter and a competent 2nd or 3rd can win; apparent warts and all.
Jason, do the Yankees have a competent second or third starter, and if so, who?
@JW – took the words right out of my mouth. Pitching has been an issue since the season started. Now Rivera is flopping during crunch time…then again Idk why the put him in back to back games. I could be a struggle.
The Rivera poor outings have to be temporary, if not, they don’t have a shot. He had a day off between Sunday and Tuesday, so rest shouldn’t have been a problem for Mariano.
Right now, no. The Yankees have a few pieces but not enough in the immediate future.
I would agree, and with Rivera struggling, that will make things even more difficult. That being said, they will be in the playoffs, and you can only win if you are in it.
