After one of the worst NFL beatings handed out in recent memory (a 62-7 final in the New Orleans Saints win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football) the Colts appear to be the worst team in the league and may go winless. If the Colts won the Suck for Luck Sweepstakes and earned the right to draft the Stanford Cardinals quarterback, would they do so, then trade Peyton Manning? The question is who is going to give up anything of value for a past-his-prime quarterback with a ridiculously big contract? Oh, did I mention his neck is a ticking time-bomb?
This is assuming Manning is healthy. If he doesn’t return, then it’s not a dilemna.
I feel like a good option for them might be to trade Luck away and draft someone like Barkley or Jones that would probably be better suited to sitting on the bench for a few years. That way you get lots of picks and you still have a potential star quarterback on your hands being mentored by Peyton Manning.
That is what I thought would happen if they got the pick, but Phil Simms said there is no way they would have both at the same time. Thought that was interesting.
they will keep both and let andrew luck play the preseason so he has some taste for the nfl but he will only play reg season if peyton gets injured again
