One Caribbean Radio Sports Briefs for Wednesday, June 20, 2012, by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

The Miami Heat overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 104-98 to take a three games to one lead in the NBA Finals. LeBron James, who was plagued by cramps, yes ladies, I said cramps, scored 26 points, highlighted by a three-pointer he hit to give the Heat a 97-94 lead with under three minutes to play. LeBron also dished out 12 assists and grabbed 9 rebounds, Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with a spectacular 43 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The Miami Heat have a chance to close out the series and win an NBA championship tomorrow at home.

Akeem Scott scored 23 points and grabbed 6 rebounds while Samardo Samuels of the Cleveland Cavaliers added 20 points and 9 rebounds as Jamaica defeated the US Virgin Islands, 80-64 yesterday at the Men’s Centrobasket Championships in Puerto Rico. Walter Hodge led the US Virgin Islands with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Jamaica will play the Dominican Republic today.

Johan Santana pitched six shutout innings as the New York Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles 5-0. The Mets and Orioles play the rubber game tonight at Citi Field. The 10-game winning streak of the New York Yankees came to an end last night when they lost to the Atlanta Braves 4-3.
