NEW YORK — Though the Brooklyn Nets are coming off of a win over the Detroit Pistons, the real test was Tuesday's game against the Lakers.

At their new home at Barclays Center, the Nets lost a home game against a quality opponent that just so happened to be playing without two starters in Dwight Howard and Metta World Peace.

NEW YORK — After the first three quarters of Game 2 of their best-of-seven series against the Chicago Bulls, the Nets had just turned in another poor third quarter and seemed down and out.

Unfortunately, the poor third quarter was a familiar sight for any Nets fan that has visited Barclays Center this season.

And if you have been to a Brooklyn Nets game in their inaugural season at Barclays Center, there is a chance that you have looked into the stands or even up on the Jumbotron and viewed an energetic fan with a customized jersey and glasses dancing to various tunes while cheering for the team.

When the Brooklyn Nets played the Chicago Bulls at Barclays Center back in February, Derrick Rose was on the floor at Barclays Center, shooting around before the game.

By that time, Iman Shumpert of the New York Knicks—who suffered a similar injury to Rose—had returned for the Knicks and has since become a key contributor for the team.

At that point, many assumed that Rose would be returning soon, since he had been cleared for full-contact practice.

Big Props to Jason Collins By Marc “Razz” Rasbury

I would like to commend Jason Collins for his public announcement that he is gay. Collins, in an article to appear in Sports Illustrated later this week, acknowledged something that he has been hiding for over 30 years. In doing so, he became the first active male player in major team sports to come out and proclaim that he is gay. Continue reading

Is Kenyon Martin Now the Locker Room Voice of Knicks? by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

Is Kenyon Martin the Locker Room Voice?

Is Kenyon Martin the Locker Room Voice?

When I first discovered that the New York Knicks decided to wear All Black Everything to their game five battle against the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the 2013 NBA Playoffs, I immediately thought that it was in poor taste. There are, after all, funerals that, unfortunately, we all have to attend in our lives, and to have a mock funeral for the end of a basketball team’s playoff run was just a bad choice, for many reasons. You never give your opponent more reason to one to defeat you, which the Knicks did to a team that has leaders with a championship ring. Then I wondered why the Knicks, a veteran team with Tyson Chandler and Jason Kidd, who won rings two years ago with the Dallas Mavericks, would do such a foolish thing, then I got the answer: Kenyon Martin.
