Amar’e, Knicks, Host Kobe, Lakers by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

The New York Knicks (26-25) host the Los Angeles Lakers (37-16) at Madison Square Garden tonight at 8pm.

The Lakers are looking to sweep the season series for the fourth-straight season and have won seven straight against the Knicks.  The Lakers defeated the Knicks Sunday, January 9, 2011, 109-87.

The Knicks come into the game off a loss to the team the Lakers share the Staples Center with, the Los Angeles Clippers, 116-108. Amar’e Stoudemire led the Knicks with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, while Danilo Gallinari scored 21, with 5 rebounds. Timofey Mozgov scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, and Felton recorded his 22nd double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 assists. The Lakers rebounded from a 15-point deficit to defeat the Boston Celtics 92-86.  Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 23, 20 coming in the second half.  Pau Gasol added 20 points and 10 rebounds and Andrew Bynum finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Lamar Odom came off the bench to add 10 points and 12 rebounds and Shannon Brown scored 12 points, also off the bench.  The Lakers are 3-0 on their seven-game road trip.
