RA Dickey became the first pitcher in Major League Baseball to earn his 11th victory as the New York Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles 5-0. Dickey also became the first player to pitch back-to-back one hitters since Dave Stieb did it in1988 for the Toronto Blue Jays. Dickey’s streak of innings without an earned run is now 42 ⅔, the second-longest streak in Mets history. The franchise record for consecutive innings without allowing an earned run is 49 by Dwight Gooden, who set the record in 1985.

The winning streak of the New York Yankees reached double figures yesterday, as they defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-2 at Yankee Stadium. CC Sabathia pitched a complete game in improving his record to 9-3. The ageless wonder Derek Jeter, who leads the American league with 87 hits, drove in three runs.

Jamaica coasted to victory over Costa Rica 91-61, in their opening game of the Men’s Centrobasket Championships in Puerto Rico yesterday. Weyinmi Rose led the team with 18 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. Dylan Ennis added 16 points, while Cleveland Cavaliers forward Samardo Samuels scored 14 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Clifford Araya led Costa Rica with 17 points. Jamaica will take on the US Virgin Islands today, the Dominican Republic tomorrow and Mexico on Thursday.

Finally, the NBA Finals continue tonight with game 4. The Miami Heat, led by LeBron James, who is averaging 30.3 points and 10.3 rebounds, led the series 2-1.
