The 2012 NBA Draft takes place tonight at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Five players from the University of Kentucky are expected to be drafted in the first round, including Anthony Davis aka The Unibrow, who is expected to be the first selection by the New Orleans Hornets.
The New York Yankees completed a sweep of the Cleveland Indians, but suffered two blows to their pitching staff. Ace CC Sabathia will miss two starts after he strained his groin Sunday against the New York Mets, and, as I was told by New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, “The groin is a very sensitive area”. Not to be outdone, Andy Pettitte was hit by a line drive in the fifth inning and suffered a broken fibula. He is expected to miss at least six weeks.
After losing the first two games of the series in Chicago, the Mets offense exploded as they clubbed the Cubs 17-1. First baseman Ike Davis, who had three hits and drove in five, is hitting over .200 for the first time this season.
Germany and Italy take the field today for the right to advance to the 2012 EuroCup Finals. The winner will play Spain, who defeated Portugal yesterday in a scoreless thriller that went to penalty kicks.
The Jamaican National Senior Championships begin today and the spotlight will be on Usain Bolt, the world-record holder in the 100 and 200 meters, and Johan Blake, the reigning world champion in the 100 meters. The preliminary round for the 100 meters is today, with the finals tomorrow. The 200 meters will take play Saturday and Sunday.
